Bird Theme

So during our lovely sleepy Sunday we decided to watch the Gregory Peck version of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' (we love old Gregory). I was making orange chicken, green beans and basmati rice - yes my vegetarian diet seems to have flown away, for the holiday season at least! We love Asian foods!

I haven't finished watching the end yet, so I'm going to do that today.  The wind wipped up last night and we sat cosily by our 'VERY PINK' Bonsai.  Poor tree got dressed as a girl for Christmas!!  There is hardley anything traditional about him, he's covered in birds, pom poms and a gigantic Arch-Angel Gabriel!   

Our Tree: A Magpie Den??

Somehow thought the bright and cheerful multicoloured tree seemed fitting for my Califonia Christmas.  It's hard to explain the mountain eco-system we live in, it's SO sunny, the leaves are only just falling, today it's windy and bright...I feel like playing Saint -Seans, but it's too bright and happy out for that.  Although I'm sure there are some storms brewing...

Back to birdsong, I was thinking about the significance of this scripture today:

O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD,
Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. 

-Psalm 95:1

"Skylarks actually uses song as a form of defense against predator birds such as merlins or peregrines. By singing, the skylark signals to the merlin that it is in good condition and will be a hard job to catch. Only a fit skylark can afford to sing whilst being chased by a predator." - The Mystery of Bird Song.

One of the things that singing Gods praise does is silence the enemy:

May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands

-Psalm 149:6

So this Advent is a time of song in our house.

Mary’s Song

 ⁴⁶ And Mary said:

   “My soul glorifies the Lord
